Plot
Under ett rån skjuter den aggresiva och drogade Nikita en polisman, men istället för att dömas till döden får hon träda in i den franska statens tjänst. Hon förvandlas från avtrubbad brottsling till sofistikerad yrkesmördare. Efter tre års stenhård utbildning slussas hon ut till ett vanligt liv med ny identitet, men när statsfiender ska röjas ur vägen blir hon uppringd av regeringen. Nikita förälskar sig i en man som inte vet något om hennes förflutna och när hon försöker förena sin cyniska verksamhet med kärleken hamnar hon i livsfara.
