Zambezi Shark: Africa's Perfect Predator
Add to Watchlist
Plot
The shark is nature's marine masterpiece - a unique ensemble of muscles and senses constantly poised for the hunt. In appearance, the Zambezi Shark is actually far less fearsome than its larger cousins, the Ragged Tooth, Tiger or Great White Sharks. With an average length of 3.5 meters, small eyes, grey colouring and well-hidden teeth, the Zambezi is the true 'plain Jane' of the shark family - a simple exterior concealing millions of years of genetic perfection. Through a sophisticated combination of electroreception and acute sensitivity to minute pressure changes in the water, the shark has a distant sense of touch. It feels the presence of everything in its immediate vicinity and can detect the slightest movement - even the motion of the gills of a fish! If that's not enough, its sense of smell can pick up one part of blood diluted in one million parts of water. Once it attacks attacks, the Zambezi transforms its neutral appearance. Rows of lethal teeth are exposed while nictitating membranes cover the eyes, momentarily blinding the shark.
