Kramer vs. Kramer

Dustin Hoffman stars as workaholic advertising executive Ted Kramer, who arrives home ecstatic about winning a new account only to be told by his wife, Joanna (Meryl Streep), that she is leaving him to "find herself." Left in his care is their 6-year-old son, Billy, who is pretty sure Dad doesn't know how to make his breakfast or do any of the things his mom has always done for him. But once Ted has re-balanced his life, really gotten to know his son and begun to feel fulfilled as a parent, Joanna shows up demanding custody of Billy, resulting in a vicious court battle. This 1979 box office smash dominated the next year's Academy Awards®, winning for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Screenplay, and receiving four other nominations.
