Plot
Robert Sandrich (Peter Sarsgaard) is a fledgling screenwriter who has been living on the fringes, writing spec script after spec script to no avail. His life changes when he is offered a million dollars for his latest and most personal work – The Dying Gaul, a raw and autobiographical story of the death of his lover. But there is a catch – the studio thinks the project will be much more commercially viable if Robert will only change the dead lover to a woman.
The Dying Gaul is a psychological thriller in the Hitchcock tradition with amazing performances by Patricia Clarkson (The Untouchables, Far From Heaven), Peter Sarsgaard (Boys Don't Cry, Garden State, Jarhead), and Campbell Scott (Roger Dodger, The Secret Lives of Dentists). World premiered at Sundance 2005. In competition at the Berlinale 2005.
